MagicSpam is a powerful anti-spam and email security solution for Linux systems. It integrates directly with popular control panels, such as cPanel and Plesk. It’s primary function is to stop inbound spam from entering your server right at the SMTP layer, which lowers bandwidth and overhead. It also secure mailboxes on your server from being compromised and used to send outbound spam.

MagicSpam installs directly onto an email server without any need to change A/MX records to protect unlimited users and domains. MagicSpam also integrates natively into many control panel interfaces and comes equipped with log and statistic modules to help with the management of an email server.

Note
In an effort to fight spam, Linode restricts outbound connections on ports 25, 465, and 587 on all Linodes for new accounts created after November 5th, 2019. For more information, please see Sending Email on Linode.

As MagicSpam is designed to integrate and run alongside with Control Panels, the MagicSpam App also deploys the selected control panel (cPanel or Plesk). Both of these control panels may require purchasing a license. Additionally, a MagicSpam license key is required to deploy MagicSpam on Linode, which you can purchase through the MagicSpam Store.

If you want to deploy MagicSpam onto an existing Linode Compute Instance, do not follow this guide. Instead, install MagicSpam by following one of the below guides:

Deploying a Marketplace App

The Linode Marketplace allows you to easily deploy software on a Compute Instance using the Cloud Manager. See Get Started with Marketplace Apps for complete steps.

  1. Log in to the Cloud Manager and select the Marketplace link from the left navigation menu. This displays the Linode Create page with the Marketplace tab pre-selected.

  2. Under the Select App section, select the app you would like to deploy.

  3. Complete the form by following the steps and advice within the Creating a Compute Instance guide. Depending on the Marketplace App you selected, there may be additional configuration options available. See the Configuration Options section below for compatible distributions, recommended plans, and any additional configuration options available for this Marketplace App.

  4. Click the Create Linode button. Once the Compute Instance has been provisioned and has fully powered on, wait for the software installation to complete. If the instance is powered off or restarted before this time, the software installation will likely fail.

To verify that the app has been fully installed, see Get Started with Marketplace Apps > Verify Installation. Once installed, follow the instructions within the Getting Started After Deployment section to access the application and start using it.

Note
Estimated deployment time: MagicSpam should be fully installed within 10-15 minutes after the Compute Instance has finished provisioning.
